Alocasia Care
Watering: Water the plant when the top 2–3 inches of soil is dry to the touch. Allow water to flow into the pot until it drains out of the bottom. Avoid overwatering, as alocasia plants are susceptible to root rot.
Fertilizing: Feed the plant every month in the spring and summer with a half-strength, all-purpose indoor plant fertilizer. Don't fertilize in the fall and winter.
Pruning: Remove yellowing, damaged, or diseased leaves with sharp, sterile pruners.
Repotting: Repot the plant every 1–2 years into a pot that's 1–2 inches larger in diameter.
Toxicity: Alocasia plants are mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep them away from children and pets.
Light: Alocasia plants prefer bright, indirect light. If the leaves droop, move the plant to a brighter location. If your home doesn't get much natural light, you can use a grow lamp.
Temperature: Alocasia plants prefer temperatures between 60–85°F. Keep the plant away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Humidity: Alocasia plants prefer high humidity levels, ideally over 50–60%. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water.
